The film was written by Hamm's girlfriend Jennifer Westfeldt (maybe you saw her with him at the Emmys), who previously scripted and starred in the indie hit Kissing Jessica Stein and the cute, little seen rom-com Ira & Abby. Hamm had minor roles in both prior to becoming famous as Don Draper. This time he'll star, and I wonder if we'll get to see the real-life couple playing an onscreen couple presumably dealing with the fact that all their friends have kids and they don't (and maybe, like Hamm and Westfeldt, aren't even married).
Reportedly Anne Hathaway and Kristen Wiig are being sought for additional roles, though neither is signed yet. I'd love to also see them cast Rosemarie DeWitt (who's previously worked with Hamm and Hathaway separately) and Adam Scott, both of whom were involved in a reading of Westfeldt's script a month ago. People are assuming Westfeldt will direct, which would make this her debut in that capacity (she did not helm either of her other movies despite what's being written). Either way, it's set to begin shooting once Hamm is on hiatus from Mad Men, which will be soon.
