You simply can't buy pre-publicity like this. A new numerological horror, based on the '11:11' theory (more on that in a bit), hasn't even gone into production yet and already various intenet-lurking nutcases have taken umbrage with it and are threatening to derail the project using their collective mindbending powers. Brilliant!

As reported by Cinematical, Darren Lynn Bousman, the director with the impressive CV (joke) of Saw II, Saw III, Saw IV and the wholly unnecessary remakes of Scanners and Mother's Day, is preparing to make the movie '11 11 11'.

According to Bousman, the film is about the, "11 gates of Heaven and how on 11:11 on the 11th day of the 11th month, the 11th gate will open up and something from another world will enter the earthly realm for 49 minutes." I guess that 49 minute window means the 'something' has to get back to its realm for a 12pm lunch date.

For the un-mystical among you, the '11:11' theory is vaguely conspiratorial/mainly spiritual and is based on the idea that the presence of the number is attributed to angels and other spiritual sources trying to make contact with us.

As with most theories of this nature there is an ardent band of followers who don't like the idea that their beloved concept could be used for entertainment purposes (although I'd be more annoyed that it was the director of some Saw films who was tackling it).

Anyway, horror site DreadCentral have found some online tirades against the proposed movie, including "My first reaction was anger then I thought start a Petition...'(ummm, haven't you heard that it's all about Facebook groups now?), '"he is perposefully (sic) trying to thwart all of the positive energy we have saved and use it for his own evil...' and the overall winner '...if my energy and universe bending can do anything he will pay for this and he will regret the day he decided to do this film ... " That one is just too, too good.

So, surely this is the basis for an imaginative indie comedy rather than another bog standard chiller from some dude with a bad track record in horror? 'Darren Lynn Bousman vs The World' anyone?
