Howdy-do children of the night. Welcome back to the incredibly awesome Horror Squad Movie Club. Whether you like it or not, and I am sure you do not, I am once again hosting this communal movie party. This week we tackle a real classic of 80's horor cinema: Fright Night. I love this movie so very much and even added to my Top 5 80's Vamp Flicks. With news flooding in every day about the impending remake, I thought this would be the perfect time to catch ourselves up on the original.
If you aren't familiar with the film, it's the story of young Charley Brewster; an incurable nerd. When the house next door to Charley gets a new occupant, he doesn't think much of it. That is, he doesn't think too much of it until he begins to suspect that a vampire has just moved into the neighborhood. With the help of former horror movie icon, now a local TV horror movie host, Charley decides it's up to him to save his cul-de-sac, his town, and possibly the world.
Fright Night is available on Instant Netflix so go watch it right now! On Monday I'll be back to bat around a few discussion points and generally wax poetic about vampires and the 80's. Have a great weekend everyone and mind your necks!
