As Twi-hards are relishing the first confirmations that the film's stars are, indeed, together, there are other goodies for the crew to rejoice about.
First, Robert Pattinson has topped Glamour's 50 Sexiest Men of 2010, beating everyone from Brad Pitt and Will Smith to Justin Bieber and fellow Twilight hunks. Yes, this includes Taylor Lautner, who came in #2. Sorry Team Jacob, Team Edward gets the bragging rights in this round. Topping off this upset, media vamps grabbed all of the top spots, with Xavier Samuel and Kellan Lutz sneaking in for Twilight fame and Ian Somerhalder popping in-between (Vampire Diaries). Like it or not, vampires are here to stay ... for now.
Next, Eclipse is about to de-throne New Moon.
Hollywood.com notes that the third installment of the series, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, is about to surpass flick number two, New Moon. The latter boasts a final and impressive domestic total of $296,623,634, and right now, Eclipse is up to $296,268,343. Less than $400,000 stands between them. One might think that at this point, so far after the release of the last film, it will be a hard number to beat. However, the film still managed to pull in a couple hundred thousand a day earlier this week. This is pretty much inevitable.
New Moon still gets the bragging rights of having the biggest opening day gross in history, but Eclipse has a lot to be proud of as well. It came out not in November, but during the summer movie season, and its full first weekend gross was less than New Moon's first day numbers.
Could the trend continue with the last two installments, Breaking Dawn Parts One and Two? It'll be tough. However, the final bit does have the bragging rights to the most ridiculous story yet, with ... Well, I'll let Funny or Die share the spoiler laden plot below:
