Decker's just the latest Victoria's Secret model to burst onto the action scene. Other Secret blockbuster babes include Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, who is replacing Megan Fox in Transformers 3, Olga Kurylenko from Hitman and Quantum of Solace, and Riley Keough, who's in talks for the new Mad Max film. Resident Evil's resident ass-kicker Milla Jovovich has an extensive modeling career, and Salt's Angelina Jolie also worked as a fashion model when she was a teen.
But no matter how sexy they are, casting an unknown is always a roll of the dice. In the case of Battleship, it seems like an especially risky move since Universal is already going to shell out $200M for a movie based on a board game. As Monika pointed out, that puts it in the same price range as 2012, Terminator Salvation, and, appropriately enough, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen -- not exactly brilliant company to be in, but we're talking about an adaptation of a Hasbro game for kids whose tagline is just too tantalizing for critics not to use in their reviews.
So, is the sexy supermodel underground reliable enough to keep a movie afloat? Are you more likely to peep Battleship now that it's got some fresh eye candy? Or will it take more than a pretty Secret to get your butt in the theater seat?
