The movie will be helmed by George Miller, who wrote and directed the original three Mad Max films which shot Mel Gibson to fame. Don't expect Mad Mel to be returning though as Inception's Tom Hardy has signed up for the lead role so we could be looking at a prequel (seeing as he's a lot younger than Mel was by the third film) although Miller has intimated that the story would be set just after the third film, Beyond Thunderdome.

While Fury Road has been in development hell for a loooong time it seems that things are finally moving towards a production date. Charlize Theron and Clash of the Titans' Nicholas Hoult are also on board and it's rumoured that Miller may shoot two films back-to-back. Expect Mad Max Mania to be driving into your town very soon...
