'Step Up 3D'The 'Step Up 3D' soundtrack attracts the hips to move to the beat, regardless of whether or not the song is relevant to the movie. Actually, the only thing that matters about this soundtrack is that it will make people want to get down like the characters in 'Step Up 3D' and it most definitely achieves it's goal!

The soundtrack is pretty diverse considering the hip-hop flavor of the movie, featuring electro-funk band Chromeo, 90s pop star Jesse McCartney, and indie group N.A.S.A. Though dancing applies to all genres, some songs could have definitely been left out. The telephone sample in "Whachadoin?" (even if it is an indie, hipster-style group) is still unacceptable. However, the majority of the songs on the soundtrack are hits both new and slightly old and features some of today's hottest hip-hop and R&B artists like Trey Songz, Estelle, and Flo Rida.

The soundtrack is fun to dance to, but anything beyond that is asking for a bit much. Only a few tracks contain lyrics that are relevant to the storyline of the dancing lovers, every other song is strictly for dancing. Trey Songz sings a love story on "Already Taken" whereas Jazmine Sullivan delivers the emotion of the break-up in "Bust Your Windows." In fact, the song extracts the sexy anger and emotion with its tango twist and her raspy voice.

'Step Up 3D' soundtrack represents the breakdancing element of hip-hop very well, with tracks that feature a breakbeats from older songs. There is also an element of funk, dancehall, electronic and samba added to a few other tracks, accumulating the entire aspect of hip-hop dance. The lead single "Club Can't Handle Me" by Flo Rida is a surefire club hit, though he raps about nothing. However, the best song on this soundtrack is "This Instant" by Sophia Fresh (featuring T-Pain) because of the energy from the artists and the ample breaks and beatdrops will satisfy all breakdancers and club-goers alike.
