We reported back in May that Francis Ford Coppola and Walter Salles were beefing up their long-awaited adaptation of Jack Kerouac's Beat Generation novel 'On the Road,' and now DeadlineHollywood has reported that two new stars will be hitchhiking onto the production: Amy Adams and Viggo Mortensen.

Mortensen will play Old Bull Lee (Kerouac's fictional stand-in for William S. Burroughs) and Adams will play his wife Jane, who's described as "the emotionally damaged junkie mother of two children" (quite a change of pace for Adams). Already in the cast are 'Tron: Legacy's' Garrett Hedlund, who plays Dean Moriarty (a fictional version of Beat hero Neal Cassady), Kirsten Dunst, who plays Camille (Carolyn Cassady), Sam Riley, who plays Sal Paradise (Jack Kerouac) and Kristen Stewart, who plays Beat queen Marylou (Luanne Henderson in real life).

The film, which Coppola is producing and Salles ('The Motorcycle Diaries ') is directing, began filming this month.
