DeadpoolRobert Rodriguez has gone from being rumored to direct Marvel Comics' 'Deadpool' movie to being in actual negotiations for the job. Given his current work schedule, we'd likely see him making the movie sometime around 2046. That's an exaggeration, but not by much.

Truthfully, Rodriguez's style is perfect for the tone of a 'Deadpool' movie. He's very good at the ultra-violent revenge flick. It would be sort of like his upcoming 'Machete' movie, but with fewer Mexicans. Should Rodriguez get the job, the only question would be if Ryan Reynolds would return for the role he originated in 'X-Men Origins: Wolverine.' We'll see if Marvel is bitter about him jumping to Warner Bros.' 'Green Lantern' movie. Even if he doesn't return, Marvel does have a history of replacing actors in roles (Spider-Man, Fantastic Four, Hulk), though it's important to mention that 20th Century Fox is behind this, and not Marvel.

Rodriguez should have been tapped to direct a Marvel character a while ago, perhaps to helm the Thomas Jane version of 'The Punisher.' Undoubtedly it would have turned out a lot better.
