According to a source for Moviehole, MGM has scrapped director Darren Aronofsky's planned 'Robocop' reboot from its production schedule because of its ongoing financial difficulties. The news follows previous reports that work on the next 007 flick was suspended because of the distributor's funding woes.

"Gone. Kaput. Canceled. But Detroit's toughest cyborg is now stuck in development hell. Moviehole's source says Aronofsky has lost interest in the film, and the Financial Times reports that the 'Wrestler' director has already moved on to other projects.

Other upcoming movies that could end up on MGM's chopping block include remakes of 'Red Dawn,' Amityville Horror,' and, of course, the 'Lord of the Rings' prequel 'The Hobbit,' which already lost director Guillermo Del Toro.
