One of my favorite games growing up was Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!! on the original Nintendo. Taking control of perennial underdog Little Mac as he boxes his way through the Soda Popinski's and Glass Joe's of the fighting world on his quest to take on Iron Mike Tyson was one of those magical gaming moments that I still look back at fondly all these years later.
Developer Blockdot appears to have used that classic NES game as the template for their new iPhone and iPad title, Pilgrim's Punch-Out! -- a boxing game designed to cross promote Edgar Wright's Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World film.
Players can take control of the title character and help him defeat the seven evil exes of his one true love, Ramona Flowers. The game features touchscreen controls, the ability to access the movie trailer and various stills, a tool to share your score on Facebook, and you can use the app to get updated Tweets and newsfeeds about the movie.
The best part of Pilgrim's Punch-Out!? It's absolutely free. So, if you have an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, hit the iTunes store and download your copy. If you didn't catch Scott Pilgrim at ye ole Comic-Con last night, circle August 13 on the calender for your next big movie date.
