It looks like who the Dark Knight's new enemy will be is a riddle no more.

In an exclusive scoop, FirstShowing.net reveals that a casting grid at Warner Bros. lists the Riddler as a character in what is still being referred to as 'Batman 3.'

The actor listed in the same grid to play the character is none other than Joseph Gordon-Levitt, whose status is listed as simply "interested."

This news should be considered something of a confirmation that the Riddler will indeed appear in 'Batman 3' but not a confirmation that Gordon-Levitt will be playing the role. It looks like who the Dark Knight's new enemy will be is a riddle no more.

While many fans feel Gordon-Levitt is perfect for the role and all the more so because of the his recent collaboration with director Christopher Nolan on 'Inception,' it should be pointed out that the director doesn't always go for more than one project with his leading actors.

For example, Guy Pearce, the star of Nolan's breakout hit, 'Memento,' seemed like a shoo-in several years ago for either Bruce Wayne or Harvey Dent, but he has yet to work with Nolan a second time.

Warner Bros. has made no official announcement that 'Batman 3' will have any kind of presence at this week's San Diego Comic-Con, but perhaps there's a surprise in store? There may yet be some riddles to solve at this year's convention.

'Batman 3' will hit theaters on Jul. 20, 2012.
