InceptionIn the mood for a movie this weekend? With the release of the buzzed-about 'Inception' and some particularly fine family fare still in theaters, there's plenty of big-screen action to keep you indoors, entertained and and out of the heat.

Best Bet: 'Inception'

Starring: Leonardo DiCaprio, Ellen Page, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Marion Cotillard, Ken Watanabe, Tom Hardy, Cillian Murphy
Directed by: Christopher Nolan

What It's About: DiCaprio stars as Cobb, who makes a living extracting dreams from other people's minds. When Saito (Watanabe) recruits him for a risky and difficult job -- to implant an idea in the mind of a competitor (Murphy) -- Cobb must assemble a team to plunge deep into one man's psyche, all the while battling personal demons of his own.

Why Should You See It? Fans of Nolan's films ('The Dark Knight,' 'Memento') know that the director delights in throwing us off-kilter. And that he does in 'Inception,' with a thought-provoking, fast-moving film that's two-thirds heist movie and one-third enigmatic riddle. You may always not understand everything that's going on, and yes, the movie's two and a half hours long; but the action is so engrossing, and the top-notch cast such a delight to watch, that you'll barely notice the time. Just make sure to go to the bathroom first. InceptionIn the mood for a movie this weekend? GreenbergNew on DVD This Week: 'Greenberg' - Ben Stiller stars as a fortysomething guy with no job or direction, which some of us might call a "loser," but others would call, um, a loser. Directed by Noah Baumbach ('The Squid and the Whale'). More | Buy or rent the DVD

Movie Homework, Part 1: 'The Sorcerer's Apprentice' is loosely inspired by 'Fantasia,' so if you prefer your magicians with pointy hats and big ears, surrounded by dancing brooms, check out what is inarguably the trippiest movie in Disney's history -- and certainly one of the most innovative animated films ever made.
