Directed by 28 Weeks Later helmer Juan Carlos Fresnadillo, Intruders focuses on an 11-year-old girl forced to confront childhood demons. The shoot is expected to run for twelve weeks in London and Madrid.
Details beyond that are sketchy, but Screen Daily is reporting that Carice Van Houten, Pilar López de Ayala, Ella Purnell, Izan Corchero and Kerry Fox have all been added to the cast. The film is based on a script by novelist Nico Casariego and screenwriter Jaime Marques.
Fresnadillo has been busy as of late. He's not only handling the directorial duties on this film, but he's also been named as Gore Verbinski's replacement on the big screen adaptation of popular videogame Bioshock -- should they ever get the funds to make it. Meanwhile, it appears as though Intruders marks Owens' first foray into the land of horror movies. I'm genuinely curious to see how he does with it.
Now that filming is underway, expect a lot more news about Intruders -- hopefully we'll get a better plot synopsis sometime in the not too distant future.
