Carrie Fisher as Princess Leia in Return of the JediLast week, model and occasional actress, Kelly Brook, made news by appearing in a magazine photo shoot wearing the iconic Princess Leia slave costume from Return of the Jedi (see how she looked here). In doing so, Brook joined a legion of famous (and not so famous) people who have paid homage to the greatest princess of all time.

Whether it's the Leia during her 'doughnut-on-either-side-of-her-head' phase or in the sexy garb that Jabba the Hut designed for her, Princess Leia's fashion choices have always been a permanent fixture in pop culture. Basically, if anyone bothered to do a 'Most Parodied Thing Ever' list... Leia would definitely be in the top five.

So, with that in mind, check out our ten favourite Princess Leia tribute moments from the world of movies, telly and beyond after the jump. Needless to say, the force is strong in all of our selection... Kristen Bell does Leia in Fanboys
Don't think many people saw the 2008 comedy, Fanboys, concerning a group of Star Wars fans who travel to Skywalker Ranch to steal an early copy of Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace. For those that did (predominantly the male audience), Kristen Bell (star of Gossip Girl and Forgetting Sarah Marshall) became every geeks dream girl in her homage to Princess Leia moment.

When dogs do Star Wars
We won't lie to you... we love a funny video featuring dogs in clothes. It gets us every time. Which brings us nicely to the clip below featuring two pooches called Pixie and Wicket (not sure which is which) who are dressed as Vader and Leia and give the impression that they're dressed like that all the time. As for their annoying owner goading them in the video, well, I hope Pixie and Wicket went for his throat the second he stopped filming...

Jennifer Aniston does Leia in Friends
Possibly the greatest Leia TV moment goes to Jennifer Aniston in a Friends episode entitled 'The One with the Princess Leia Fantasy'. Basically, Rachel (Aniston) asks Ross (David Schwimmer) about any sexual fantasies he might have, he reveals his slave girl Leia dreams and - hey presto - TV gold is created when she dons the gold bikini (and adds the doughnut hair buns for a double geek special). Enjoy the moment again right here.

Princess Leia bikini contest at Comic-Con
Comic-Con International is the largest comic book and popular arts convention in the world and is the place to see previews to the biggest and most exciting upcoming movies. In truth, the highlight is the wacky costumes that visitors to the event like to wear and, in 2008, this reached its peak when a Princess Leia bikini contest was held. Let's just say that Jabba the Hut would have had a heart attack if he'd seen this...

Princess Leia on New York subway
New York based comedic performance group, Improv Everywhere (who recently re-enacted Ghostbusters in the NY Public Library), have just released their latest jape - performing the opening scene of the Star Wars saga on a crowded New York subway. Basically, Princess Leia is trying to mind her own business when Stormtroopers get on at the next stop and hunt for members of the Rebel Alliance. A few stops later Darth Vader appears and, well, just watch it...

Princess Leia in Lego Star Wars
Game console fans will already be aware that everyone's favourite building block company, Lego, have teamed up with some of the biggest films ever (Indiana Jones, Batman, Harry Potter) to create some corking games for your PS3, Xbox and the like. In the Star Wars Lego game you'll find all of your favourite miniature characters and, of course, lovely Leia in the slave costume is there too. Don't remember her doing this dance in the real film though...

Tina Fey does Leia in 30 Rock
Anybody that's never seen the brilliant US comedy 30 Rock should sort that terrible situation out immediately. From the brilliant mind of US comic, Tina Fey, it's a literal gag fest - never more so than when they include jokes or quotes from the Star Wars original trilogy. Fey's character, Liz Lemon, dressed up as Princess Leia for four Halloweens in a row but her greatest moment is when she dons the costume in an attempt to be disqualified from jury duty. Enjoy...

Princess Leia does Alicia Keys
Taking Jay-Z's classic toon, Empire State of Mind, and applying some Force, those funny types at College Humor came up with the benchmark for all future Star Wars parodies. The star of this video is, of course, Darth Vader - who takes centre stage rapping the plotlines to the first three films - but amongst the dancing Stormtroopers you'll see a very good Princess Leia lookalike in the Alicia Keys role who cleverly transforms into all of Leia's guises from the first trilogy.

Family Guy does Star Wars
When it comes to movie parodies, the undoubted king is Family Guy. Writer/creator Seth McFarlane has always let it be known that he's a huge Star Wars fan and so it came to pass that Blue Harvest was born - an extended episode where all the characters were recast in George Lucas's epic. Basically, we could fill this page ten times over with classic Blue Harvest moments but one of our favourites, featuring Lois as Leia, was this one...

The Star Wars Holiday Special
It's only fair that the real Princess Leia should feature in here somewhere - and, boy, was this moment memorable. Although not necessarily for the right reasons. The infamous Star Wars Christmas Special from the late 70s is a bizarre spectacle that fails to make sense however many times you see it. But one of it's weirder moments, finds Carrie Fisher as Princess Leia singing an ode to 'Life Day' which apparently is the equivalent of Christmas Day in George Lucas land. Prepare yourselves to be quite disturbed...
