A new installment in the 'Predator' saga hits theaters this weekend with the release of 'Predators.' Produced by Robert Rodriguez, this new version stars Adrien Brody, Alice Braga, and Topher Grace, among others, as they try to survive the legendary alien monster and its hunt for human prey.

The 1987 original has become a modern classic, remembered as an ultra-tough action film, led by the one and only Arnold Schwarzenegger. In the original, Arnie starred as Dutch, the commander of an elite task force sent into Val Verde; the group is ambushed by an alien hunter who has gone on an intergalactic safari. The Predator picks off each member of Dutch's team until he is forced to fight the creature in violent hand-to-hand (and booby-trap) combat.

We don't have time to bleed, but we do have time to answer your questions about the new film and how it compares to the original.

Q: So what happens in 'Predators'?
A: Brody and Braga lead an eclectic cast of earth's deadliest hunters -- including a death-row inmate, a Sierra Leone guerilla fighter and a Russian commando, to name a few. They are kidnapped and taken to a big-game planet, where the Predators can hunt them for sport.

Q: Predators -- as in plural?
A: Yep. There's more than just the one. And they are all armed with cloaking devices and pinpoint laser weaponry -- and this time around, they also send vicious Predator dogs into the field to take a bite out of the cast.

Q: Is this movie a remake or a sequel?
A: I guess "re-imagining" is the fancy word that Hollywood throws out these days. There's one sly reference to the 1987 original that implies a lot more history between Predators and the Earth. But this movie is its own beast entirely. It's still more plausible than 'Predator 2.' And it's a breath of fresh air after the disastrous 'Alien vs. Predator' series.

Q; How does it compare to the original?
A: The original is a methodical action-horror film, where an invisible threat picked off soldiers, before finally revealing its true form in the memorable climax. But it's been 23 years. Everyone knows what the mysterious Predator looks like. The only way to offer up something new is to up the ante with this beefed-up installment.

Q: To quote the original, does it still bleed?
A: Yes. And that means they can kill it. The best part about multiple Predators is that it gives the humans a chance to rack up some body count, too.

Q: 'Predator' stars two men who became governors -- Arnold and Jesse Ventura. Are there any future politicians in this cast?
A: Let's keep our fingers crossed for Danny Trejo, who plays a Mexican drug cartel enforcer. Trejo is -- as always -- a blast.

Q: Adrien Brody. Really?
A: He's no Arnold, but he doesn't try to be. Whereas Dutch was the ultimate super-soldier, Brody stars as a black ops mercenary for hire, who becomes the de facto leader of the group. Brody plays the type of guy who will not yell at you to "get to da choppa!" -- he'll just leave you behind. He is one of the more ruthless, cunning, and selfish members of the group -- and that's what makes him the perfect weapon against the Predators.

Q: Who does Alice Braga play?
A: An Israeli Defense Forces sniper who clashes with Brody and his leadership skills -- much like Arnie and Carl Weathers' relationship in the original. Braga is a lot hotter than Weathers, but Carl is still the king of one-armed machine gun shooting.

Q: OK, I can buy Brody and Braga as tough soldiers. But how did Topher Grace end up in the hunt?
A: He plays a good-natured doctor, which is a valuable resource when you've had your foot caught in a trap. Plus, there's a lot more to his character than meets the eye.

Q: I always liked Billy the tracker from the original; his stand-off against the Predator on the bridge is one of the coolest scenes. Anything like that in this new movie?
A: You haven't seen a summer movie until you watch a Predator get into a samurai sword fight with a Yakuza assassin.

Q: Does the movie have explosions, gun battles and blood-shed?
A: Yes. Yes. And yes -- lots red and green blood. This is an R-rated action film, all the way.

Q: Is the Predator still an ugly motherf****r?

A: Yep. And wait until you set your sights on the Beserker Predator.
