Jigsaw's latest movie outing has been known as Saw VII 3D or Saw 3D since it was first announced last fall. Not the most imaginative titles, but for a series that's milked a convoluted story and a tired premise for six films already, you have to admire the fact they were keeping it simple. That changes now, because according to a document we received today, the film is now known as ... Saw 3D: The Traps Come Alive. Cinematical has also since confirmed with reps that this is, in fact, the new title.
I'm sure this new title is a not-so-clever way to talk about the 3D component making things seem more "lifelike," but let's be honest -- it's a pretty horrible title for a film. Traps Come Alive makes it sound like a sequel to Maximum Overdrive. If this is the best subtitle you can come up with for a 3D film, you might as well just stick with Saw VII 3D.
Maybe someone will bring this up at Comic-Con, where the cast and crew of Saw VII will make an appearance on July 23rd. They'll be on hand to show exclusive footage from the movie and engage in a Q&A. This will be the first film in the series in 3D and the first feature shot on the SI-3D camera system.
