Just the other day I was mentioning how I am just not much of a fan of splatter-happy horror movies like Wrong Turn 2 and 2001 Maniacs, Tim Sullivan's remake of Hershell Gordon Lewis' 1964 cult classic, Two Thousand Maniacs! However, I do recognize what it is about these movies and their absurd sense of humor and no-shame depravity that has garnered them tons of fans over the years. So while I maintain a "just not for me stance" toward splatterhorror, I am quite curious to see how Sullivan's sequel, 2001 Maniacs: Field of Screams, turned out.

Bill Moseley is taking over for Robert Englund as Mayor Buckman this time around. Lin Shaye, who always brightens up a movie in my book, is back as the crazy Granny Boone, as is Christa Campbell as the Milk Maiden. As for what it's all about, from the press release:

"The Southern residents of Pleasant Valley take their cannibalistic Guts N' Glory Jamboree on the road to Iowa where they encounter spoiled Northern heiresses Rome and Tina Sheraton and the cast and crew of their "Road Rascals" reality show. Performing "The Bloodiest Show on Earth," our Southern Maniacs prove to be more than ratings killers in what director John Landis calls "one of the rare sequels that surpasses the original.""

First Look was kind enough to give us a clip from the film to premiere. I'm going to go ahead forewarn that this clip is definitely Not Safe For Work as it'll make it clear why the film's tagline is "If They Kill You, They Will Come!". Check out the clip below and then check out 2001 Maniacs: Field of Screams on DVD July 20th.
