Despite the fact that The Haunting in Connecticut made me want to tear my hair out, I'm willing to give genre friend Virginia Madsen another try in Red Riding Hood. Variety reports that the actress has been added to the increasingly interesting cast of director Catherine Hardwicke's gothic riff of the classic fairy tale.

Madsen is set to play Amanda Seyfried's mother alongside Lukas Haas, Shiloh Fernandez, Gary Oldman, and Julie Christie. Orphan's David Leslie Johnson has penned the script and Leonardo DiCaprio is producing the film under his Appian Way banner, along with Jennifer Davisson Killoran, Michael Ireland, and Alex Mace.

The only real way to guarantee that this film doesn't become a watered down version of the violent tale about a wolf and a girl is to cast Candyman. Is this cast enough for you to see a film directed by the former Twilight helmer, or is this just a wolf in sheep's clothing?
