I've never actually read The Walking Dead before, but those who have claim the Robert Kirkman-penned Image comic is absolutely amazing, and there's no reason to think that the forthcoming AMC mini-series based on the comic and executive produced by Frank Darabont will not follow in its footsteps. After all, have you seen the early stills of the zombies? They're incredible, and one actually serves as the background on my computer. For awhile all that we knew about the direction of the series was that Darabont himself would be directing the first episode. But now we may have another.

According to Arrow in the Head's source, Michelle Maclaren, who has directed several episodes of the hit series Breaking Bad, has been tapped to direct an episode of The Walking Dead. This is at the time unconfirmed, but as Arrow points out, it makes sense given Maclaren's current work with AMC. I personally have no thoughts one way or the other, as I have never seen her work, but I'm looking forward to seeing what gets churned out if she is indeed the second director.

The Walking Dead chronicles the travels of a group of people trying to survive in a world stricken by a zombie apocalypse. The focus is placed on Rick Grimes, a police officer from the small town of Cynthiana, Kentucky. The mini-series is set to air in October and will star English actor Andrew Lincoln as Grimes.
