Sasquatch flicks are a perennial thing. They're so ubiquitous that my eyes just gloss over them. Oh, and they're also usually sub par, straight to video trash. That certainly doesn't help their case. Of course, there must be some demand for them. There's a persistent love for Bigfoot in film ever since the Patterson video. Still, there's never been that high point. There has never been something to be considered as the epitome of Sasquatch movies. We get good efforts, of course. Legend of Boggy Creek has its fans and Ryan Schifrin's Abominable was a blast, but there has yet to be one that makes people scared to go into the woods. There isn't a Jaws for the Bigfoot crowd. Most of the efforts to scare us come off as nothing more terrifying than a beef jerky commercial. So I'm always on the lookout for one that will deliver on the promise of hirsute horror - a teeth gnashing, flesh eating behemoth.
Coming up later this year from director Jordan Blum is another effort in the sub genre, Savage.
A blazing forest fire rips its way through Bear Mountain National Park. As the firefighters try to contain it, the animals are being forced out of their habitat including a beast that was better left undiscovered. Now several firefighters are missing or found mutilated.
