Get ready to feel old. This weekend marks the 25th anniversary of 'Back to the Future.'

The Fourth of July blockbuster about Marty McFly and his time-traveling quest to get his parents together for the first time went on to spawn two sequels, an amusement park ride, a Saturday morning cartoon, the best songs Huey Lewis ever wrote, and the countdown to 2015 -- when Hoverboards WILL become a reality.

Starring Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd as the best rock-n-roll teenager/crazy scientist combo in movie history, 'Back to the Future' was the biggest-grossing film of the year and was even preserved in the National Film Registry. It's one of the greatest films ever made. Seriously, if you thought the possibility of Marty being erased from time was scary, imagine a life where 'Back to the Future' never existed.

Marty's adventure began after what was supposed to be a routine test with a time-traveling DeLorean, in the Twin Pines Mall of Hill Valley, Calif. Luckily for us, the Twin Pines Mall is a real place: the Puente Hills Mall of Rowland Heights, Calif.

Location as Character: The Twin Pines Mall was named after the Twin Pines Ranch, home of Old Man Peabody and his prized pine trees. On October 26, 1985, at 1:15AM, Marty meets with Doc Brown at the Twin Pines Mall to help document the latest experiment involving the flux capacitor -- it's what makes time travel possible. Of course, nothing goes according to plan, Doc is killed, Marty is flung backwards into 1955, and he accidentally becomes the object of his mother's affection. And that's the end of the history of the Twin Pines Mall.

On October 26, 1955 a strange young man -- who later goes by the name Calvin Klein -- crashes his futuristic-looking car into one of the trees, after being chased off by Old Man Peabody. The Lone Pine Mall is later erected in its place. The Lone Pine Mall is where Doc is protected by a bullet-proof vest, Marty returns to the future and heads home to find his two loving parents waiting for him.

Historical Significance: The real Puente Hills Mall still exists. Built in 1974, it remains a fully-operating shopping center -- even though some of the stores have changed over time. It has gone through several renovations, including being featured on HGTV's 'Extreme Makover' in 2006. The mall has currently been redesigned to incorporate feng shui principles.

According to "Back to the Future' co-writer Bob Gale, at 1:15AM on October 26, 1985, fans flocked to the parking lot to see if they could witness any bending of the time-space continuum. History remained unchanged, however.

Directions: The parking lot is located 1600 S. Azusa Ave., in Rowland Heights, Calif. -- a mere 25 minutes outside of Los Angeles. To get there from the 101 South, take the CA-60/Pomona exit. Merge onto CA-60 E, taking exit 18 for Azusa Avenue. Take the first right, and then take the first left and you are there.

Visitor Info: It's a parking lot. You can go anytime. As long as you haven't stolen any plutonium from Libyan terrorists, we imagine you can spend as much time there as you like. There's definitely enough room to get up to 88 mph.
