A few days ago, our own Todd Gilchrist posted an interview with actor Tom Hardy. In it, the performer who blew us all away in Bronson talked about his newest challenge: taking on the role of Mad Max in the reboot of the classic Mel Gibson franchise.
The thought of Hardy playing the character is exciting, but now Twitch is reporting a new rumor stating director George Miller isn't just shooting one Mad Max installment, but two -- to be filmed back to back. The first, entitled Mad Max: Fury is the one we all knew about. Now a sequel entitled Mad Max: Furiosa is apparently in the works as well.
Head after the jump for more details ...
Plot details are being kept hidden at this point. Both live action movies come after plans to make an anime installment of the series fell through. I can't really wrap my head around a Mad Max cartoon -- regardless of how bloody and violent it might have been. Hardy, meanwhile, tells us that he's dropped thirty pounds to play the part and that he's headed for stunt training. When Todd asked him about how he envisioned the character, the actor responded "Imagine a hungry wolf. Or like when you put a cat in the bath. You grab a cat by the throat and stuff it under the f*cking water. You know what it looks like? That's what I'm going to look like. But like a puma. Very hungry and very dangerous. It's imperative. This is the kind of guy who's not well. So I have to create that reality." Sounds like Hardy gets it.
A second film is still an unconfirmed rumor at this point, but you have to admit that it would be cool. Are you up for it?
