Ever wonder what Danny McBride's dad is like? Well, thanks to the magic of Hollywood, we're about to all find out, as The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that veteran actor Fred Ward has signed on to join the cast of '30 Minutes or Less' in the role of McBride's pa.

Ward, of course, has been an industry stalwart for decades, appearing in everything from 'The Right Stuff' to 'Tremors' to 'Sweet Home Alabama.' Whether or not he'll have to grow out a McBride-esque mullet for his role in '30 Minutes or Less' is still unclear, but considering his character is named "The Major," we're going to guess probably not. '30 Minutes or Less,' according to the report, is an "action comedy" which "revolves around two criminals who force a junior-high history teacher and a pizza-delivery man to rob a bank by strapping one of them into a bomb vest." The film, which is being directed by 'Zombieland's' Ruben Fleischer, may be a comedy, but not everyone is laughing at the premise, which mirrors the infamous real life death of pizza delivery man Brian Douglas Wells, who was killed by a bomb he was forced to wear during a failed 2003 bank robbery.

Just why Columbia decided to turn one of the most notorious murders of the past decade into a feel-good slapstick routine is unclear, but the iffiness of the premise hasn't stopped the film from signing on a raft of stars. Besides Ward and McBride, '30 Minutes or Less' has also booked roles for Jesse Eisenberg, Michael Peña and Aziz Ansari among others.

'30 Minutes or Less' is scheduled to land in theaters on August 12, 2011.
