As promised, here's the new full trailer for EA and Visceral Games' Dead Space 2. I think, judging from the clip, that it's been well worth the wait.

The game is currently on display at E3. The preview gives us a bit of the backstory, letting us know that space engineer/Necromorph-slayer Isaac Clarke is apparently suffering from some form of dementia. Turns out this could be fatal unless he makes it to help in time. The only problem is, there seems to be a whole bunch of hideous space monsters between him and salvation. So, it looks like Isaac's gonna have to fire up his plasma cutter and dismember scads of monsters too hideous to describe. I'm sure good times will ensue.

The new trailer looks cool. Wherever Isaac is, the environments seem more diverse than they did in the first title (which took place on a space ship). The Necromorphs are still suitably disgusting, but Visceral's not only given us bigger and nastier monsters to face, but they've also added in some freaky looking kid aliens who appear to attack in swarms. All I can say to this is "please, God, do not let them be like the Flood in Halo..."

Best news of all in the clip? The official release date. Dead Space 2 will hit the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on January 25th of next year. Follow me beyond the break and bask in the gory goodness...
