Riddle me this, Bat-fans: What rubber-faced star of stage and screen, who has been the subject of an online fan push to play the Riddler in the upcoming 'Batman 3,' is now reportedly in talks for the role? Three guesses and your first two don't count.

No, it's not Betty White, but close: Actually, Joseph Gordon-Levitt is apparently on the short list to play the iconic supervillain in Chris Nolan's third installment of the wildly popular 'Batman' reboot. This according to insiders for gossip site Hollywood Life, though it should be stressed that nothing is anywhere close to being official. Still, while it's still way too early to say what will happen with the part (the script for 'Batman 3' is still being written), this is certainly good news for fans of Gordon-Levitt, who have been pushing for the actor to appear in the film for months. Rumors originally swirled that JGL, as he is known among his followers, would be taking over the role of The Joker from the deceased Heath Ledger, but when Nolan recently stated that The Joker would not be appearing in the threequel, attention instead turned to The Riddler.

Of course, while The Riddler's on-screen history may not be quite as illustrious as The Joker's, Gordon-Levitt would still have some pretty big shoes to fill; Jim Carrey memorably played the part in 1995's 'Batman Forever,' while Frank Gorshin's version in the 1966 TV hit became an instant pop icon.

So what do you think? Would Gordon-Levitt knock this one out of the park? Or is the star of '3rd Rock From the Sun,' '(500) Days of Summer' and Nolan's upcoming sci-fi thriller 'Inception' too much of a lightweight for the Dark Knight's dark world?
