Syfy has taken a lot of heat lately for not exactly being about actual sci-fi (hence the name change). Their programming over the years has grown increasingly saturated with weirdness-of-the-week shows like Sanctuary, Warehouse 13 and Eureka, the latter of which is their only remaining original series that I do actively enjoy. Well, if you love shows that follow the Eureka blueprint, you're in luck; Syfy's new series, Haven, is another weirdness-of-the-week type show concentrated in one locale. However, Haven does have a draw for non-Eureka fans; it's based on Stephen King's The Colorado Kid. From Syfy.com:
"The series follows the shrewd and confident FBI agent Audrey Parker (Emily Rose) who has a lost past, and arrives in the small town of Haven, Maine on a routine case. Before long, her natural curiosity lands her in the epicenter of activity in this curious enclave, which turns out to be a longtime refuge for people that are affected by a range of supernatural afflictions.
As the townspeople's dormant abilities begin to express themselves, Audrey helps keep these forces at bay while discovering the many secrets of Haven - including one surrounding her own surprising connections to this extraordinary place."
Check out the first glimpse of Haven below. If it looks like it's up your alley, set your DVR for its premiere July 9th at 10/9 Central.
