Break out your bowler hat and wax your handlebar mustache, because Dum Dum Dugan is about to storm Hollywood's beaches in a major way.

No, that's not some kind of Mad Lib gone horribly awry. Actually, it's the latest casting news from Marvel Studio's 2011 blockbuster 'Captain America: The First Avenger,' as Neal McDonough has confirmed that he will be playing the hard fighting World War II commando Dum Dum Dugan.

The embattled shores of 40's Europe are no stranger to McDonough, of course, who rose to fame thanks to an acclaimed turn as Lt. "Buck" Compton in HBO's classic World War II mini-series 'Band of Brothers.' This time around he'll be fighting alongside another group of legendary heroes, this time of the fictional variety, as Dum Dum Dugan is second in command of Marvels Howling Commandos team, a team which McDonough promises will see plenty of action. "Oh, I'm going to see a lot of action," McDonough enthused at Sunday's MTV Movie Awards, where he confirmed the role. "[Dum Dum Dugan is] the go-to guy, so I'm very happy with that."

McDonough joins a growing cast that features fellow Bostonian Chris Evans in the lead role of Captain America as well as Hugo Weaving as arch-enemy Red Skull and Stanley Tucci as the genius scientist behind the super soldier project, Dr. Erskine (which we revealed yesterday). But it's the presence of Samuel L. Jackson as Howling Commando's leader Nick Fury that should have McDonough most fired up: In the Marvel Universe, Dum Dum Dugan is Fury's second in command at SHIELD, the secret organization Jackson has been fronting throughout each Marvel film to date, meaning that 'Captain America' could be just the tip of the iceberg for McDonough at Marvel.

McDonough couldn't be happier at the prospect and, well, at life in general.

"You sign up for future movies ahead of time, but you just keep praying," he said. "I'm so fortunate to be part of something like this. If there are more to come, great. If not, I've got a great job and I've got the greatest wife at home -- that's what makes me happy."
