California's battle over Prop 8 -- a ballot proposition that added a section to the state's constitution stating that "only a marriage between a man and a woman is recognized or valid in California" -- has been contentious, to say the least. So, it's nice to see something like this new Devin and Glenn video, which shows that some people can disagree but still have a sense of humor about it.
The clip stars Mike White and Justin Long and opens with text stating "to the 44% of Californians who believe homosexuals should not be allowed to marry, we offer the following perspective," before launching in to a story of two newly married men. We see White and Long as fresh-faced newlyweds on their honeymoon, moving into their new home together, and cuddling while watching TV. Soon, though, things start to change -- the two sit apart on the couch, when White mentions he's going to the gym Long overreacts, Long starts watching porn ... you know the drill.
The humorous point of the piece is why would you spare homosexuals from a lifetime of wedded torture? Isn't Prop 8 really doing gay couples a favor, by sparing them from the long, slow spiral into marital apathy? It's all very tongue-in-cheek, of course, but it's still pretty amusing regardless of which side of the issue you find yourself on.
