Read more about 007's Aston Martin after the jump... Here's a cockle warming tale for car enthusiasts, movie enthusiasts, Bond enthusiasts, money spending enthusiasts and that horrid little man from Jamiroquai: the Aston Martin, as driven by Sean Connery in Goldfinger, has gone up for sale. Before you reach for your wallet and start fantasising about dinner jackets and martial arts, let me break it to you gently... it could go for up to $4 million at the auction.
The DB5, which also featured in Thunderball, is one of two that were used in the films (the other one of them went missing years ago). If owning a piece of cinematic history isn't enough of a selling point, consider the fact that this little motor is still pimped out for all your espionage needs- it's got primitive sat-nav, bulletproof windows and fake machine guns at the flick of a switch. However, it's not proven that owning this car will enhance your success with the ladies.
The car was bought by the US radio personality Jerry Lee in 1969 for the princely sum of $12,000; the only caveat for the sale being that Aston Martin could use it for promotional purposes whenever they wished. Apparently it has 30,000 miles on the clock and hasn't really been used since the mid-70s.
If you're still interested, you'll be heartened to hear that Mr. Lee is using the proceeds to set up a scheme to help social problems, which is commendable considering the kind of retirement one could have with that money. The auction takes place in London on 27th October.
