Even beyond the humor of seeing Snoop picking a fight and wielding a lightsaber, Baruchel suffering a misfire (no, not the kind in She's Out of My League) and Beckham being presented with an offer from Jabba the Hutt, the piece is impressively well done. Adidas, in conjunction with Lucasfilm, successfully combines moments from the original film with the fresh footage in a flawless manner. Using a software called Flame, the filmmakers were able to take out old characters and toss in new ones in addition to some World Cup flair to do some remodeling on the Cantina while maintaining the atmosphere the bar has in the original film.
The piece is fun and all, but where are the damn sneakers? Ever since this post about The Adidas Originals Star Wars Collection popped up, I've been itching to get my hands on a pair, but the only ones available to buy are, well, kind of ugly. The release of an ad set to the tune of an updated "Imperial March" back in January suggested the kicks were on the way, but here we are about four months later and they're still as much of a fantasy as growing up to become a Jedi. This one barely even gives the product screen time. It's a decent promotion for Adidas apparel, but the only time we get a good look at sneakers is for a brief moment on Baruchel's feet and they don't even come from that original collection. See for yourself after the jump.
