America can relax, because the crisis that has terrorized the nation for weeks is finally over. No, we're not talking about that little oil spill thing, we're talking about something far more devastating: the departure of Megan Fox from 'Transformers 3.'

Yes, it's official: Michael Bay has announced on his website that Victoria's Secret model Rosie Huntington-Whiteley will indeed be replacing Fox as the female lead in 'Transformers 3,' which has already begun filming.

Huntington-Whiteley's participation in 'Transformers 3' has been rumored for weeks and was seemingly confirmed just a few days ago when Victoria's Secret released an online video clip congratulating the underwear model for her first acting gig. But until now, nothing official had been said by anyone actually involved in the production of 'Transformers 3.' Bay's announcement changes that, allowing millions of teenage boys to get a huge head start on their summer downloading.

For those who haven't been following the 'Transformers 3' behind the scenes drama, Fox, who became an instant superstar when 'Transformers' hit theaters three years ago, was dropped from the threequel last month, presumably due to the negative comments she made about Bay and the movies in the press. (Bay has since denied the allegations, saying he simply wanted to move the story in another direction.) While replacing such a popular lead would normally be a high risk endeavor for a blockbuster franchise like 'Transformers,' as Fox has pointed out, human actors aren't exactly at a premium in your typical Bay production, so we have a feeling that Huntington-Whiteley will do just fine in her new role.

So where exactly did Bay find Huntington-Whiteley? Well, as it turns out, the director met her while filming a Victoria's Secret ad last year, which served as a sort of unofficial 'Transformers' screen test as Bay managed to somehow slip in one of his trademark giant fireball explosions into the lingerie spot. Say what you will about Bay, but you have to admire his dedication.
