The green light is on for the remake of the 1984 Kevin Bacon hit since Craig Brewer, director of Hustle & Flow and Black Snake Moan, took over as director. His predecessor Kenny Ortega (High Street Musical) was originally attached to direct with Zac Efron in the leading role until both pulled out, leaving the production in jeopardy.

The latest rumour is that Nightmare On Elm St's Thomas Dekker will star in the Bacon role as Ren McCormack, the dance loving kid who moves to a small town where busting moves and rock music have been banned. Anyway, star roles aside, the producers are still looking for 'males 18 or older to play High School seniors' - and whilst you don't need to be a trained dancer, it's essential that you're a quick learner.
