As previously reported, Bloom is playing the big arch-nemesis to the Musketeers, the Duke of Buckingham. But it might not be the Duke you remember. The folks behind the film are describing the character as: "so cool that you can chop him into cubes and serve with vodka." Yes, according to THR, that's a direct quote. Mixed metaphors? Hints at what's to come? This is Anderson, so anything is possible. Will Bloom slide onto screen and face the swashbucklers with a martini? Heck, will he whip out his own brand of deadly action from his old Lord of the Rings bow stylings? Anderson has been promising "eye-popping action."
And finally, could Bloom ever that cool ... especially in a film where Christoph Waltz is playing Cardinal Richelieu? If he pulls this off, it should do wonders for his career, which is finally picking up steam again after Pirates of the Caribbean: At Worlds End. Musketeers is slated for release in 3D next summer.
