Friday was the first day of Creation Entertainment's Los Angeles Weekend of Horrors, a genre convention held at the Marriott Los Angeles Airport. This year, the convention features a considerable wealth of horror luminaries, starting with the Italian maestro himself, Dario Argento. Not only will he be signing autographs and taking pictures with fans, but he'll appear Sunday at 3:40 PM to discuss his legacy and maybe offer a few hints about what horrors he still has up his sleeve.
Check the Creation Entertainment website for more information about ticketing, autographs, and a full schedule. In the meantime, Cinematical has compiled a list of highlights that horror fans won't want to miss!
Saturday, May 22
11:30 AM I Spit On Your Grave Panel – Dread Central's Uncle Creepy moderates this panel featuring cast and crew members of the upcoming remake of the classic horror film of the same name. Additionally, original I Spit On Your Grave creator and producer Meir Zarachi will appear as well, presumably to offer his blessing on this reimagining of the rape and revenge tome.
12:20 PM Never Sleep Again Panel – Uncle Creepy also moderates this illustrious panel featuring scream queen Heather Langenkamp and the filmmakers responsible for the new documentary that lovingly and meticulously details the making of all of the films in the iconic Nightmare on Elm Street series. (Check out Cinematical's review of the doc, then go pick up a copy of your own to get signed by the cast and crew!)

3:00 PM Re-Animator Panel – moderator Sean Decker reunites the cast and crew of the classic '80s horror film Re-Animator, including writer-director Stuart Gordon, screenwriter Dennis Paoli, and stars Barbara Crampton, Robert Sampson and Bruce Abbot to pay tribute to the film's delightful dismemberment.
4:40 PM Human Centipede Panel – fans can line up here (no pun intended) to celebrate what is fast becoming the cult horror film of the year. Sean Decker moderates a panel of cast members, including Ashlynn Yennie and Akihiro Kitamura, as they discuss 2010's most controversial and oddly celebrated horror movie.
5:10 Jasons Panel – John Buechler moderates this gathering of the ten men who played Jason Voorhees throughout the original installments in the Friday the 13th series. Iconic composer and personal hero Harry Manfredini also appears to provide a little atmosphere for this cutting discussion.
Sunday, May 23

12:45 PM American Grindhouse Panel – director Elijah Drenner assembles an impressive panel of participants to discuss his terrific documentary about the history of grindhouse cinema. 3:40 PM Dario Argento Panel – the Creation site only lists a couple of his iconic credits – including Suspiria, Deep Red, and Tenebre – but Argento appears in person for more than an hour to revisit and discuss his incredible career as one of the great giallo directors, and the creator of some of the most unforgettable and terrifying images in horror movie history.
