People liked the Transformers movies for two reasons. They are as follows.

1. Robots and explosions and special effects and oh-my-God-it's-Optimus-Prime-nostalgia-is-rearing-up-in-my-icy-soul-ohmygod.

2. "Oh man, Megan Fox is hawt!"

One of those two reasons has left the equation. Megan Fox will not be taking part in the third incomprehensible "Robots Turn Into Cars And Punch Each Other For Reasons That Are Never Quite Clear" movie. The initial reports indicated that she was fired, possibly because she compared director Michael Bay to Hitler while promoting Jennifer's Body some time ago. Drew McWeeny over at Hitfix, though, claims she left of her own accord.

Did she choose to leave? Why did she choose to leave? Was she really fired and his publicists are trying to cover for her? Are her 15 Minutes finally up? What's going to become of Megan Fox? Oh Movie News, I love it when you go all soap opera on me.
I also wonder how they're going to write Fox out of the films. Personally, I'm hoping she died between films, preferably by staying inside a car as it transformed into a robot. Unfortunately, we'll probably just get some whiny story about how her and Shia LeBeouf broke up and it's so sad and so on.

Although I'm not looking forward to another Transformers train wreck, I could get behind seeing Gemma Arterton's face projected onto a massive screen again. It looks like she may take Fox's place, playing a new love interest. Although I'm worried that she's becoming the go-to gal for "female sidekick and/or love interest for the hero in blockbuster movies" after Clash of the Titans and Prince of Persia, I'm just glad to see an actress who has talent and screen presence outside of her sex appeal getting work.

Megan Fox can be seen in Jonah Hex this summer if you need your creepy but justifiable Fox Fix. In the meantime, Transformers and the Last Crusade is happening no matter what we say, do or destroy, so we can just hope Bay fills it with some interesting personalities.
