Once he stopped at a farmhouse well for a cup of water, and all the dogs barked affrightedly at the inconspicuous Zoogs that crept through the grass behind. At another house, where people were stirring, he asked questions about the gods, and whether they danced often upon Lerion; but the farmer and his wife would only make the Elder Sign and tell him the way to Nir and Ulthar. - H.P. One of my favorite aspects of Fantastic Fest last September was seeing the many short films that played before a good majority of the films. Many good, some were bad, but the winner was clearly Elder Sign, the two minute short film from Canadian filmmaker and writer Joseph Nanni. One of three Lovecraft inspired short films on his his website Bad Advice for Good Times, Elder Sign is an utterly hilarious look at the steps you might take to prevent yourself from flying polyps. I don't want tor ruin too much, so just do yourself a favor and check it out.

When you're done watching Elder Sign (be sure to check out the side effects at the end), be sure to head on over to Nanni's site to check out his other two shorts, The Necronomicon and Casting Call of Cthulhu. For more Lovecraft fun, head on over the H. P. Lovecraft Historical Society and check out the Great Old One-inspired "Carol of the Old Ones" along with a whole host of other Lovecraft-inspired ditties.
