What with the gigantic success of Disney's Tim Burton-Johnny Depp 3D 'Alice in Wonderland,' the company has just paid seven figures for a pitch for a live-action reimagining of 'Cinderella,' to be written by Aline Brosh McKenna ('The Devil Wears Prada,' '27 Dresses'). According to Deadline Hollywood, it's not known whether the film will be 3D, or whether there will be deviations from the original Cinderella story.
Jessica Biel has signed on to star in director Pascal Laugier's 'The Tall Man,' a thriller about a woman desperate to find the mysterious title character who has kidnapped her child, The Wrap reports ... FROM CANNES: Universal Pictures International has picked up international rights to Relativity Media's 'Immortals,' a 3D adventure film that follows the mythological tale of the young warrior Theseus, who leads his men into battle with the immortal Greek gods to defeat the evil Titans, according to Variety. The film is currently shooting on location in Montreal and stars Henry Cavill, Stephen Dorff, Luke Evans, Isabel Lucas, Kellan Lutz, Joseph Morgan, Freida Pinto, John Hurt and Mickey Rourke, and is set to be released by Relativity in the U.S. next year.
Brendan Gleeson and Donald Sutherland have joined writer-director Charles Martin Smith's 'The McLean Boys,' a real-life story of Canadian outlaws who nearly incited a native uprising in 1879 British Columbia, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Sutherland will play the father of the three McLean boys, on the run and being chased by a posse of 100 men led by Gleeson.
