Adam Bhala Lough is hoping to create a subgenre of horror which he has dubbed "Skinemax Cinema" -- based on the late night cable movies many of us may remember from our childhood. His first entry into a planned franchise of 80's-styled "sexploitation-serial-killer-slasher-road-movies" is Splatter Sisters and veteran producer Edward R. Pressman (The Crow remake) and filmmaker David Gordon Green (the Suspiria remake) are set to produce the project. Newly engaged couple Marilyn Manson and Evan Rachel Wood are attached to star.

"This is a role Marilyn Manson was born to play, and with Evan Rachel Wood bringing dramatic gravity to the ensemble, I have no doubt this will take the horror genre to a new level," Green said. He also expressed that while Lough's film puts a spin on 80's horror classics, it takes a unique approach that "raises the bar," according to Variety. Pressman added, "Lough's unique talent and energy will make Splatter Sisters a very special and markedly commercial film. I've always been attracted to smart movies about killers made by directors with a real vision."

This isn't the first time Manson and Wood have worked together, The couple will be starring in Manson's film, Phantasmagoria: The Visions of Lewis Carroll, about the Alice in Wonderland scribe. Wood will be starring as Alice's alter ego and Manson takes on the roles of the bird-face masked character and Lewis Carroll.

Does the premise for this retro slasher franchise seem interesting on its own or are you only curious to see the real life couple's sex and gore antics on the big screen?
