The latest historical figure to get the epic film treatment: Julius Caesar.

Gianni Nunnari and Mark Canton, the producers behind '300,' have made Exclusive Media Group's drama based on the early life of Julius Caesar their next project, Deadline.com reports from the Cannes Film Festival.

The movie would be the first in a planned trilogy based on Conn Iggulden's bestselling 'Emperor' book series. Oscar-nominated screenwriter William Broyles ('Flags of our Fathers') has written the script, but no director or cast has yet been named. Nunnari and Canton are currently producing another historical epic, 'The Immortals,' starring Henry Cavill as warrior king Theseus and Freida Pinto as the oracle Phaedra, for Relativity Media and Universal.

Filming on the Julius Caesar project is set to begin in a few months.
