Marvel Studios never sleeps. With the majority of their cast signed onto nine film contracts, they're always busy thinking of some spin-off to put Tony, Cap, Nick Fury, or Black Widow in. Now, if Samuel L. Jackson is to be believed, there will be a S.H.I.E.L.D. movie.

Jackson sat down with Radio Big Boy and happily dished on all things Marvel. According to Mr. Jackson: "The Avengers should start shooting some time next year, and then some time after that there'll be a big S.H.I.E.L.D. movie." There's some skepticism that Jackson could know of such a thing when the same interview shows he doesn't know his Marvel cinematic universe very well -- he wasn't up to date on who is playing Captain America or Thor. But a Nick Fury / S.H.I.E.L.D. movie was floated as a possibility when Jackson signed to his epic Marvel contract. I imagine that it was probably a key part of negotiations since Jackson and Marvel reportedly played some hardball on his asking price. I imagine he knows what's in store for his character even if he's not keeping track of the other ones. (Fury has a big universe to oversee. He can't be everywhere. Little details escape him sometimes!)

What exactly would a S.H.I.E.L.D. movie entail? Well, it could be a prequel or origin story, particularly since Marvel just launched an ongoing S.H.I.E.L.D. series that traces the organization all the way back through history. But I think the story of SHIELD is something best left to exposition. Personally, I would rather see something along the lines of Secret War, and let Fury and Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson is another 9 film contract) have a own S.H.I.E.L.D. adventure in a well-established Marvel Universe without any backtracking. But that's just me. Maybe you have your own dream S.H.I.E.L.D. adventure you'd like to see?
