Daniel CraigThe Wild West is about to get a science fiction shot in the arm on July 29, 2011. That's when Jon Favreau's 'Cowboys & Aliens' hits theaters.

'Cowboys & Aliens' stars Daniel Craig, Harrison Ford, Olivia Wilde, Sam Rockwell and Noah Ringer and was written by Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci and Damon Lindelof.

According to the official Dreamworks press release, in 1873 a stranger with no memory (Craig) stumbles into the desert town of Absolution, located in the Arizona Territory. Craig's character isn't welcomed in the desert town and quickly clashes with Colonel Dolarhyde (Ford).

A stranger is the least of Absolution's problems, because, well, aliens attack the town, abducting townsfolk one by one. Craig's character is the town only hope and as his memory returns, he soon realizes that he holds a secret that could give the town a chance against the invaders. But, the stranger isn't alone. An elusive traveler Ella (Wilde) joins his posse of townsfolk, outlaws, Colonel Dolarhyde and Apache warriors, all united against a common enemy: the aliens.

'Cowboys & Aliens' is based on the graphic novel created by Scott Mitchell Rosenberg and written by Fred Van Lente and Andrew Foley with art by Dennis Calero and Luciano Lima.
