Cannes isn't just about handing out awards and watching films -- serious business gets done at the show every year, much of it at the festival marketplace, where many projects are shopped to potential foreign distributors. In some ways, the marketplace is almost more interesting than the main festival because it gives an early glimpse of some exciting projects we might see in the not too distant future.

One of those projects is Undying. Deadline is reporting that the supernatural thriller is being written by Gary Whitta -- whose previous credits include the Denzel Washington film The Book of Eli. Kurt Russell is set to star in the film, playing "a private investigator who finds himself recruited by a dark, mysterious woman who draws him into a surreal underworld."

Hard to get a read on the project from that vague blurb, but seeing Kurt Russell back in a horror film is always a welcome sight. Shooting on Undying is set to begin this fall.
