The studio has announced that 'Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules' will be released March 25, 2011, according to a Variety report. Will the wimps inherit the earth? Fox 2000 sure hopes so, as it has set a date for the second chapter in its 'Wimpy Kid' franchise.
The studio has announced that 'Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules' will be released March 25, 2011, according to a Variety report.
The first movie, called simply 'Diary of a Wimpy Kid,' followed vertically challenged Greg Heffley (played by Zachary Gordon) as he faced trials and travails and bullies during a year of junior high school. Released at the beginning of April, the flick, which was directed by Thor Freudenthal ('Hotel for Dogs') and also starred Steve Zahn and Chloë Grace Moretz, has earned $61.5 million domestically at the box office thus far.
The second movie, also based on a book from author and cartoonist Jeff Kinney's hit children's series, follows Greg as he is faced with another formidable opponent: his older brother Roderick (played in the first movie by Devon Bostick).
While there's no confirmation of a director just yet, production on the sequel may begin as early as this summer's end.
