All these rumors about Bad Boys 3 just won't go away. Last summer there was news that a screenwriter had been hired for the project, then last month series co-star Martin Lawrence told MTV that the project was "real", and now comes confirmation from producer Jerry Bruckheimer himself -- sort of.

ComingSoon.net caught up with the mega-producer on the Prince of Persia: Sands of Time press junket, and when the topic of a third installment of the popular Michael Bay-Will Smith-Martin Lawrence franchise came up, he responded with, "It's a wish and a hope and a dream. We've been working on a screenplay, which is excellent. It's an idea Will gave us, so hopefully, it will come to fruition, we would love it to."

Clearly, this doesn't mean you should start lining up for tickets to the midnight debut of the film, but it does finally put the rumors of a third Bad Boys film to rest. It's definitely a real project being developed. No one has any idea when this would start shooting if things came together and it got greenlit, but it seems unlikely to be in the immediate future. While Lawrence's dance card looks to be pretty open these days, Smith is set to work on Men in Black III and Bay is busy with Transformers 3.

The original Bad Boys hit theaters in 1995, and it's been seven years since the sequel. Are you up for another big-budget adventure featuring two wise-cracking cops, tons of explosions and Michael Bay's hyper-editing? I have about as much desire to see this film as I do to see another Men in Black movie. How about you?
