This isn't new territory for AC/DC. The 1986 Stephen King film 'Maximum Overdrive' also utilized the band for its entire soundtrack. The difference is that
'Who Made Who' (the official name of the 'Maximum Overdrive' soundtrack) was a release that included new material for the film as well as classic hits. All of the songs on 'Iron Man 2' have been previously released. The soundtrack, however, does not play as a greatest hits compilation. There are a handful of hits ('Back in Black,' 'Thunderstruck,' and 'Highway to Hell' to name a few), but it is a treat to hear more obscure AC/DC material, including 'Evil Walks' from 'For Those About to Rock We Salute You' and 'Cold Hearted Man,' which until recently was only available on the European release of 1978's 'Powerage.'
The soundtrack is also available as a CD/DVD package that includes over 50 minutes of AC/DC music videos and live performances. Fans of AC/DC will likely have no reason to buy the CD version, as it's merely a compilation of material they probably already have, but the CD/DVD release will serve as a nice collectors item for dedicated fans.
It will be interesting to see if the film's target audience will respond to music in the film that was recorded before they were born. Then again, as long as the songs fit in the action sequences it's possible no one will notice.
