Brad Bird has chosen to accept his 'Mission.'

Empire Online reports that the director is indeed going from 'Incredibles' to 'Impossible' and will be calling the shots in the fourth installment of the 'Mission: Impossible' franchise.

And star Tom Cruise couldn't be happier.

Besides Bird, Cruise and Abrams were also eyeing Edgar Wright ('Shaun of the Dead') as a possible director of the fourth 'Mission.'

"I dig Edgar. Very nice guy, very smart, very talented, I'd really like to do something with him," said Cruise. "But we're working with Brad right now ... Brad is doing it."

Cruise is currently developing the fourth film's plotline with Abrams, who directed 'Mission: Impossible III.'

As was reported yesterday, Paramount has shifted 'Mission: Impossible IV's' release date from May 27, 2011, to Dec. 16, 2011.
