Variety reports that Rashida Jones, Anjelica Huston and Jim Parsons have all joined the cast of the bird-watching comedy, which begins shooting today under the direction of David Frankel ('Marley & Me').

'The Big Year' stars Steve Martin, Jack Black and Owen Wilson as a trio of avid bird-watchers who try to outdo each other in a year-long competition to spot the rarest birds in North America (though the film is actually being shot in Canada). The film is based on the 1998 novel by Mark Obmascik.

Rashida Jones, who recently appeared in the Kevin Smith comedy 'Cop Out' (pictured), will play the love interest of Black's character. Jim Parsons ('The Big Bang Theory') will play the author of a popular avian blog, and Anjelica Huston will play the captain of a ship specializing in ocean-going bird-watching expeditions.

'The Big Year' also stars Rosamund Pike, JoBeth Williams, Brian Dennehy, Dianne Wiest, Anthony Anderson and Tim Blake Nelson.
