After a senator gets murdered in Washington, the hunt for his killer begins. But there's a twist -- the culprit is a Soviet assassin believed to be dead. In order to catch the baddie, his old nemesis -- a retired CIA operative (Gere) -- must join forces with a young FBI agent (Grace) to find the assassin. Brandt says that he hopes this film follows in the tradition of films like The Conversation and No Way Out.
For Gere, this will be an amalgamation of a number of other recent gigs, merging the likes of The Hunting Party (where he set out to find a war criminal out of the CIA's reach) with last year's action drama Brooklyn's Finest, so it's not exactly surprising. It will, however, be interesting to see Grace and Gere play off each other and what side the film leans to -- the action, or the spy drama. Production kicks off this June in Detroit.
