The ceremony, airing Jan. 16, 2011, on NBC, will mark Gervais' second-consecutive gig as host, following a successful run in January.

"As viewers discovered with our last awards telecast, Ricky's surprising and unpredictable humor is a great fit for the Globes which will continue as a live event across the nation," added Paul Telegdy, president of alternative at NBC. "He's a true force of nature with a wicked sense of humor who always keeps everyone on their toes waiting for the unexpected."

With Gervais as host (the ceremony's first since 1995), NBC saw an impressive 12 percent spike in its ratings, averaging 17 million viewers and a 5.5 rating in the coveted 18-49 demographic.

Gervais, who won a Golden Globe in 2004 for 'The Office,' is set to appear in the 2011 animated comedy 'Flanimals.' His HBO animated series, 'The Ricky Gervais Show,' was recently renewed for a second season.
